The Ins and Outs of the Restaurant City Popularity Rating

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Restaurant City is a bit different than other social networking games in that it has a built in method of asking for a rating for your Restaurant. This Restaurant City popularity rating allows the game to effectively make you go out and socialize with people, drawing more players in and engaging the player base that many times over.

However, getting your Restaurant City popularity rating up high enough is a bit hard. And it can be confusing at times because there are two ways to score popularity of your restaurant – both as the in-house popularity given by your customers and the score you get when you put your Restaurant out on Random Street to be rated by your fellow players.

Getting a Good Popularity Score

Good popularity scores start by offering solid service to your customers. If you don’t offer solid service, you will quickly start to drop off in your Restaurant City popularity rating. This means that you are taking too long to provide the dishes, the restaurant is dirty, or your employees are unhappy and tired. This can be fixed by setting up the right layout, feeding your employees before they get below 75% and by cleaning up regularly or, if you’re not online yourself, by hiring a janitor.

How to Keep the Rating High

Once you get a high Restaurant City popularity rating you need to keep it up there and that can be tough. The first thing to do is to make sure you don’t leave your restaurant open when you’re offline. This can be hard to remember, but it takes no time to fix. Just remove the door and put your employees to sleep when you log off each day, effectively making it so no new customers can come in and give a bad rating for slow service when those employees get tired. This is also good if you don’t have a janitor and the place becomes dirty.

When your restaurant gets big, make sure to have a janitor in place for the toilets and always have a waiting system in place. Also, create a maze that will make it take longer for people to get to the seats when they arrive -this will help ensure a minimized number of problems with the bad ratings that can sink your restaurant if you are not careful.

If you play it right, your Restaurant City popularity rating can be maintained at a high, super popular rate, but you must pay close attention and be ready to adjust to any of the many conditions that might pop up in game.

Restaurant City Secrets – Mastering the Island Layout

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Are you stuck trying to figure out the best restaurant layout when you play Restaurant City? Getting this wrong can be a big headache, believe me. Fortunately, there is a great way to get this right. One of the big Restaurant City secrets for success is something called the island layout. Want to learn more about it?

The island layout isn’t something you need to worry about right away. But once your restaurant reaches at least 2 chefs or 5 tables, the layout of the place becomes ever more important. This is when the best players move to an island layout.

The point is to make your employees as efficient as possible which means you’ll earn the most coins and Gourmet Points in the least amount of time.

So what is an Island Layout? It is a way of laying out your restaurant so that stoves serve a group of tables which are all located right next to them. Imagine each self-contained group of tables and stove as its own island and you’ll have the picture.

Now picture laying out your restaurant in such a way that it consists of multiple islands. The result will be the most efficient way to organize your restaurant.

Why use this layout? If you set it up right, each chef will be right beside the tables they serve, while the waiters have to move as little as possible to take care of their tables. Lay out your restaurant with islands, and the food handling portions of your business will become much more efficient.

How to Set Your Employees in Restaurant City

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Restaurant City, as one of the most popular Facebook games currently on the Internet, has become something of a lightning rod for those looking to master a game that takes a bit of skill and a whole lot of time. One of the fundamental aspects of playing the game well is to create and manage employees in such as way that they can handle all of the different layouts that would allow you restaurant to succeed. There are a lot of things to juggle – but if you can do it properly, you’ll be well on your way to having a high quality, well run restaurant.

How to Hire and Set Employees

You can hire employees at set intervals in the game. The first two employees are provided to you when you first start playing the game at level 1. You will be one of your own employees and then you can go and hire someone else from your friends list to be your first waiter and to start serving customers. After you have hired those first two, you will also be able to add employees at level 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, and 17. That will give you a total of 8 employees to run your restaurant – a generally good number that will allow you to handle just about anything that you set up in your layout.

Keeping the Employees Happy

The thing about employees is that they generally do everything on their own. You don’t need to cut or prepare food as in Cafe World and you don’t need to worry about things like rotation or positioning nearly as much. They will do their jobs without any prompting. However, you will need to go in and rest your employees or feed them regularly enough if you want them to be able to continue serving successfully.

There is a meter tied to your employees that ranges from 1 to 100%. Each increment of 25% will drop the happiness level of your employee and slow them down, resulting in worse performance and less income for you, as well as a dropped popularity score.

To keep this score high and to maintain a level that will keep those employees happy, you either need to rest them or you need to feed them. The best route is to feed them as it is much less expensive in the long run. That said, you will need to spend a bit of time maintaining them every time you logon – if you can do that, you’ll be okay with your employees and can change your focus to how they are positioned in your layout.
